Be a MemberOn the Seven Seas liveaboard 12D11N adventure from Alor to Maumere, you may see the best of East Indonesia. Feel the exciting currents of Alor and see the beautiful reefs of Maumere Bay.
The Seven Seas liveaboard 12D11N Alor & Maumere expedition is a one-way trip from Alor to Maumere that takes you to East Indonesia’s most beautiful and interesting diving spots. It is for divers looking for clean reefs, exciting currents, and rare marine life. This longer route strikes the ideal combination between exciting pelagic action and peaceful, macro-rich exploration in two of the region’s best spots. Start your adventure in the famous waters of Alor, where nutrient-rich currents flow through narrow straits like the Pantar Strait. This makes a great place for pelagic action, like schooling hammerhead sharks, dogtooth tuna, giant trevally, and majestic eagle rays, all set against the backdrop of dramatic volcanic seascapes. The Seven Seas liveaboard expertly navigates these hard yet rewarding seas, assuring you enjoy Alor’s famous diving spots at perfect circumstances for maximum encounters.
As the expedition moves to Maumere Bay on Flores Island, the underwater experience changes to one of calm beauty and macro amazement. This beautiful coastline, surrounded by volcanic peaks, has colorful coral gardens that have achieved a spectacular recovery over the years thanks to conservation initiatives. Dive into stunning walls covered in brilliant soft corals, explore gentle slopes full of reef fish, and look for uncommon creatures like pygmy seahorses, beautiful ghost pipefish, and exotic nudibranchs. The 12-day period is very liberal and lets you fully explore both areas. In Alor’s secluded bays, you can see flamboyant cuttlefish and rhinopias, and in Maumere’s clear reefs, you can see turtles, reef sharks, and schools of barracuda. Night dives show off the delights of the night, such octopuses hunting and parrotfish sleeping. Above water, the trip takes you to traditional Alorese and Flores communities, where you can learn about their culture. You can also see stunning vistas of volcanic peaks rising from the sea. The Seven Seas liveaboard takes you on an amazing trip through one of the archipelago’s most rewarding and least-explored diving areas. You will be guided by experts who know the fluctuating currents and marine life of East Indonesia very well.

Marine Life: Situated at a natural crossroads of ocean currents, the waters east of Flores support constant movement, migration, and genetic exchange—creating living reefs that feel dynamic, untamed, and perpetually in flux rather than static dive sites.
Flight to Alor from Kupang. Transfer to the Seven Seas, setting up gear while we are steaming out, and afterwards we’ll do a general briefing, after some refreshments and lunch, and we’ll do our checkout dive.
During the right season, lucky divers may even encounter Mola mola (sunfish) or hammerhead sharks. But what truly sets Pura apart is its biodiversity: pristine coral gardens, dramatic drop-offs, and muck diving sites teeming with bizarre and beautiful critters: rhinopias, mimic octopus, pygmy seahorses, and an endless variety of nudibranchs.
A pearl farm operates near Ipet. It produces Akoya or South Sea pearls using suspended lines and baskets in protected reef zones. The farm supports the local economy and helps limit boat traffic and fishing activity in the surrounding area. The strait is part of a migration route for blue whales, which pass through the area seasonally—mainly between September and December and March and May—as they move between feeding and breeding areas in the Banda and Savu Seas. Dolphins are also sometimes seen.
Pulau Serbete Ridge, just off the northeastern coastline of Flores near Maumere, offers a dynamic dive along a wide, elongated reef structure that supports abundant coral growth and marine life. The ridge is made up of gradual slopes and drop-offs, covered in vibrant hard and soft corals, along with barrel sponges. Divers frequently spot schools of fusiliers, butterflyfish, angelfish, and larger animals like blacktip and whitetip reef sharks, as well as turtles that often cruise along the reef.
Unfortunately our trip has come to an end and we have to say goodbye, but we hope to see you again soon
