You start your week with a warm welcome in Sorong, then you set off for Batanta to do a check dive. The adventure rapidly picks up as you dive into famous places like Manta Sandy to see elegant mantas and the exciting currents of Mayhem. Every day brings fresh surprises, from the stunning views from the tops of Wayag’s karst islands to the colorful coral gardens at Citrus Ridge and the exciting pelagic action at places like Eagle Rock and Black Rock. This plan is great for getting you up close and personal with the wild, unspoiled beauty that makes North Raja Ampat the best place for divers.
The best thing about our La Galigo Liveaboard 8D7N North Raja Ampat trip is how well it combines world-class diving with memorable cultural experiences. After seeing the famous coral-topped peaks of Melissa’s Garden and the schooling barracuda at Barracuda Rock, you’ll climb to the famous Piaynemo overlook for a breathtaking view of the sunset. The trip is a mix of excitement and calm, with rainforest hikes to the azure waters of Kali Biru and relaxing beach visits on Mioskon Island. This all-inclusive liveaboard voyage on the La Galigo takes you to the heart of the Coral Triangle, where you may see wobbegongs and epaulette sharks and over 75% of the world’s coral species. Marine Life: At least 75 percent of all coral species can be found in Raja Ampat, divers can expect a range of topography from soft corals and sea fans, to hard corals, seagrass beds, mangroves, shallow reefs, deep drop-offs, caves, black sand, and white sand. Giant manta rays, sea turtles, sharks, cuttlefish, pipefish, various seahorse species, and massive schools of reef fish are the norm, plus the delightful wobbegong sharks and Epaulette sharks inhabit these waters too.
Your adventure with La Galigo kicks off with a crew member greeting you for transfer from the airport or your Sorong hotel to the harbor between 7:30 a.m. and 8:00 a.m.
If you’re arriving on the day of departure, please ensure your flight lands before 7:30 a.m. so we can get you settled and ready for the journey ahead.
After a warm welcome aboard, you’ll meet the Cruise Director and our friendly crew. Once you’ve settled into your cabin, we’ll gather for a brief orientation before enjoying lunch. Then it’s time to relax and take in the scenery as we sail toward our check-dive point in Batanta.
This afternoon’s welcome dive is at Pulau Ayemi, where calm waters provide the perfect introduction to your diving experience. Afterward, take time to unwind, get comfortable, and prepare for an exciting full day of diving tomorrow.
Begin the day with an unforgettable dive at Manta Sandy, one of Raja Ampat’s best-known manta cleaning stations. Watch these gentle giants glide through the water as smaller fish attend to them.
Next, head to Mayhem, famous for its pelagic feeding frenzies and vibrant marine life.
After lunch, dive Citrus Ridge, a site known for its orange and yellow soft corals and stunning photo opportunities.
We’ll end the day at Pretty Shallows, a relaxing dive featuring sloping reefs and coral gardens teeming with life. As night falls, enjoy a gorgeous sunset over the islands of Waigeo and Gam.
Start your day with an early morning trek to the stunning viewpoints of Wayag, where panoramic views of turquoise waters and karst islands await.
Your first dive is at Wayag Corner, known for vibrant coral reefs and abundant marine life, including sharks and large schools of fish.
Other dive sites today may include Two Hump Rock and Far Out Rock, where strong currents and big fish like tuna are often seen. Wrap up with a final dive at Terserah, featuring towering coral bommies and peaceful reef scenes.
Wake up to Kawe Island, located on the equator and home to diverse dive sites like Black Rock, known for its colorful coral and rich marine life.
Later, dive Eagle Rock, which spans three sites and features everything from pygmy seahorses to manta rays.
In the afternoon, enjoy a more relaxed dive at Wofoh North, exploring coral-covered slopes full of fish. It’s a calm and beautiful end to the day.
Kick off the day with a dive at Yeben Ridge, rich in schooling fish and vibrant coral.
Next, head to the famed Piaynemo Islands. Dive Melissa’s Garden, one of Raja Ampat’s top sites, boasting an extraordinary diversity of coral and fish.

Later in the day, hike to the Piaynemo Lookout for spectacular views of the limestone pinnacles. Best done in the late afternoon for golden lighting and cooler temps.

Start early with a dive at Blue Magic, known for its submerged seamounts, reef sharks, vibrant coral gardens, and possible sightings of Napoleon wrasse and turtles.
After breakfast, visit Mioskon Island for a relaxed beach stop and surface interval to off-gas before flying.
In the afternoon, trek through the rainforest to Kali Biru, a scenic blue river surrounded by jungle, offering refreshing views and a peaceful end to your trip.
We’ll anchor in Sorong early (around 5:00 a.m.). Guests can remain onboard until 11:00 a.m., and our crew will assist with airport or hotel transfers.
After breakfast, take some time to exchange photos and contact info with your new dive buddies before parting ways.
