Often overlooked on divers’ “bucket lists”, we believe Komodo to be an exceptional dive destination. In addition to an abundant variety of corals and marine life, it includes a protected national park with Komodo dragons, pink sand beaches, Manta Alley (aptly named), nudibranchs, frogfish, octopus and drift diving. Home to hundreds of colorful coral species, pipefish, scorpion fish, batfish, trevallies and plenty of mantas and sharks.

• Padar, North and South Rinca

Diving:  

• Number of dives:  18 – 29 depending upon length of trip
• Highlights:  Macro life includes pygmy seahorses, ornate ghost pipefish and nudibranchs. Fish species range in the hundreds. Larger marine life includes manta rays, ocean sunfish, dolphins and eagle rays.
• Skill level:  We recommend at least 50 dives of experience and advanced open water certification as most dives are conducted as drift dives with some current.
• Reefs:  A variety of topography: wall dives, sea mounts and pinnacles, deep swim-throughs and shallow reefs. 260 reef-building corals and 70 types of sponges. Tidal currents originate from deeper, cooler water holding large amounts of nutrients and planktonic organisms that fertilize reefs.
